Does it bother the Liberals that the GOP always beats them to the punch?

Question

1) The Republican Party defeated the Democrats to end slavery.

2) The Republican Party banded together to get civil rights legislation passed in spite of Democrat opposition in the 60s'

3) A GOP President (Reagan) was responsible for nominating the first woman to the Supreme Court.

4) The Republicans were responsible for nominating the first black American to the Supreme Court.

5) The Republicans were responsible for appointing Colin Powell as the first black American to serve as Secretary of State.

6) The Republicans were responsible for appointing the first black American woman to serve as Secretary of State.

7) The Republicans were responsible for appointing the first Hispanic American to serve as Attorney General.

8) Now the Republicans have a strong chance to be the first party to have a woman serve as Vice President.

The Liberals have had plenty of opportunities to accomplish these types of milestones but they always walk different than they talk.

Actions speak louder than words, again!

1.)  That wasn't tthe same Democratic party as today. Those were southern "dixiecrats."

2.) Funny I also thought LBJ was the one who pushed it.  

3.) True. And a democrat was the first to appoint a female cabinet member. FDR/Francis Perkins.

I am surrounded by liberals here at work and they do walk different than they talk. I have seen their elitist-style racism in action and the odd way that they will practically bleed for a convicted felon but not for an unborn child (who is innocent). Strange breed, they are. And that is why conservatives will probably always beat them to the punch. Liberals say it but don't feel it or practice it.

The Republicans of 1860 were the liberals of their day.  The party sold out pretty quickly after that, and the only way the liberal Theodore Roosevelt became President was as a safe VP who was elevated when the conservative MacKinley was killed.

The Republicans of the 60s were NOT responsible for civil rights legislation.  John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson ran that through, and lost the South to the GOP as a result.

Geraldine Ferraro was the first woman VP candidate with the Democrats.  Obama, in case you hadn't noticed, is black.  His chance of election is as good as his opponent.

Nonetheless, it is ironic that most "firsts" are conservatives.  Margaret Thatcher made Reagan look like a liberal, and Kim Campbell in Canada was also conservative.  There is probably a doctoral thesis in that, if I could only get a grant.
