  1. yes it makes me so mad i just do a brake check on them and if thy hit me its there fault for being so close

  2. If I can do it without causing an accident, I sometimes turn on my parking lights, which turns on my rear lights -- sometimes giving the impression I've just touched my brakes.  Other times, I've put on my brakes, gently, but didn't release them for a few moments which throws off the tailgaiter's timing. hehe.

  3. Yes, I either slow down or pull over so they can pass, I would never put my family or myself  in danger because some guy/gal wants to be a jerk. If it says 25 I drive 25.

Please if this happens to you don't get angry and slam your brakes or speed!!! You can hurt yourself or others.

  4. Yes, it bothers me for someone to tailgate.  I usually ignore it, but sometimes I will drive as close to the right as possible so the person can see to pass.

  5. i usually slow down.....lol....really slow....sometimes if im being tailgeted on a side street, i go like 10kph....lmao, then when they pass me, i go right behind them...

  6. Very much, sometimes I pull off the road to let them pass me, if that is not possible I tap the brake hoping that will make them back off.

  7. Yes it does bother me, especially when i ride my motor cycle and the driver in front slows down suddenly which has happened many times and the guy behind slams on his brakes and nearly runs up my rear end, I've even had them hit the brakes and they couldn't stop in time so they go off the side of the road to avoid hitting me, the last car that did that ended up stopping 2 cars in front of me off the side of the road, so no i do not ignore it, i keep an eye in my rear vision mirror all the time, and what i do now is give a bigger distance between me and the car in front so the guy that may run up my rear end has a bigger braking distance as well.

Most of the time the guy behind me that has just braked very hard to avoid hitting me has had a reality check and backs off my rear end

  8. I always do something about being tailgated -- I pull over and let them pass me. (I'm assuming you're not on a 4-lane where you can't just slow down enough to get them to pass you)

It's really stupid to slam on your brakes -- don't you folks who do that realize that you could go off the road and into a cement embankment, tree, person, and total your car and kill an innocent driver on the other side of the road or behind the driver tailgating you, your family, the other driver, or possibly yourself?

The accident might be "their fault", but if someone were killed or seriously hurt - YOU WOULD - know who really caused the accident.

Plus everyone around here has guns.. I'm not causing an accident and getting myself into a much worse situation or possibly killed for being an idiot.

Another problem is that being tailgated is just plain dangerous. I live in western New York where the roads are often bad in late fall, winter, and early spring -- so going slowly is often necessary, in which case tailgating me .. given that the roads are bad and I could spin out of control.. they wouldn't have time to avoid me.    Plus we have a lot of deer around here.  If I slam on my brakes -- you're gonna hit me if you are on my rear end.

But unless the roads are bad.. I'm not usually tailgated.  I usually travel about 5 over the speed limit, and like to use my cruise.. so I'm not usually going really slow or slowing down/speeding up constantly -- which (slow-fast driving) ticks ME off a lot more than being tailgated.  If I'm tailgated I can just solve it quickly by pulling over.

    I would never ignore a tailgater though -- it's dangerous, that's why it's illegal.

  9. Yes! If the person tailgating hits you, it's *always* their fault, legally, becuase they should be at a distance to where they can stop in time. I always like to hit my break hard and watch them fishtail out of control. Lol.

  10. yes, yes it does. thats when i slow down.

they usually go around if you do that.

  11. It bothers me a lot as I don't have a vehicle.

  12. yes but it makes me even madder if someone cannot seem to get withing 15 miles of doing the speed limit so i am the occasional guilty tailgater too

  13. yes it does

  14. It bothers me.  If I'm in the passing lane, I try to get one lane over.  (I hate it when people pass me, who is sitting in the passing lane, by going around me in the non-passing lane.  I tell you if I get into an accident because they do that, I'm suing them for all their worth.)  Otherwise, I just slow down and go the speed limit.  I would not slam on my brake.  So what if you teach them a lesson?  Now the back end of your car is totaled, and you have to spend the next 3 hours getting all the accident stuff sorted out.

  15. Yes! especially when they have their brights on...

I usually start tapping the brakes like crazy, hoping they'll think something is happening and they'll have to slam on their brakes. Or I just slow waaaaay down
