  1. yes it really ticks me off

  2. sometimes but there are times when the Recast can make the part their own.

Example: Erika slezak is the 4th vickie on OLTL and robin strasser is the 2nd  ( or 3rd) Dorian  Lord on the same show

Genie Francis is the 2nd Laura on GH and Laura Spencer is one of the most popular characters ever on soaps

just think how many 100's of actress have played Juilet from "romeo and juilet" over the last 400 + yrs should only the one shakepeare hired be the ONLY one to play the part?

  3. I agree..yes it does bother me

  4. yeah, I was really bummed with the whole Lucky from years back and also the Carly change.... I loved the original who is now Claudia, and Tamara Braun!!!

  5. It was very strange when a character unexpectedly grows from a child to an adult overnight. In soaps, we called it Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome, or more commonly known as SORAS. And I do think that bothers me the most because every soap fan wants to ask the question, "What were they thinking?" Maybe the writers should age the characters normally.

  6. YES but on Days they tend to bring back the original actors sometimes when the replacements didn't work out. I remember when there was an entire Jack & Jennifer & it wasn't the same :(.

  7. lol,,,I had never thought of it that way.

It depends on who they swap out,,,sometimes it takes awhile to get use to the 'new' character  but  there has been a couple times when I like the 'new' one better.

  8. Yes because then I have to grow accustom to seeing this character as someone else, but in very few they have someone that is more taylored to the role such as the new Lily vs. the original one.

  9. Yes especially if it is one of my favorite characters, and I don't like the actor/actress that replaced the actor or actress before them.

What I really hate is when the new person tries to change the character of the person they are now playing, just to make that character their own.

    That just drives me nuts!

  10. Sometimes the recasts are OK.  There have been 4 Carly's on my show (General Hospital) and I've liked all of them except for the 3rd one.

But I will say that a lot of times, when they recast a character, it can totally ruin the chemistry that they had w/their on-screen significant other.  For example, on General Hospital, there have been 3 Lucky's.  And I've liked all 3 of them, but they were all paired up w/Liz, at one point or another, and only the 1st Lucky had that magical, on-screen chemistry w/her.  The other 2 Lucky's had better chemistry w/other actresses.

I think when they do a recast, they should just start from square 1 and pair the current actor w/other actors that are more suited for them.

  11. yes!

  12. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't.  Of all the Carly's they have had since Sarah Brown left the part I think Laura Wright is the best (Carly-GH).  Sometimes they find an actor/actress that just fits and sometimes it is just awful.

  13. it depends if i like the new actor/actress better. but for the most part it does bother me when i like a certain person playing a part

  14. I hate it when they do that!!!!  I watch Days and I miss the old Belle (Kirsten Storms) and the old Shawn (Jason Cook).

  15. Sometimes it does make since.  To age a character etc...  The most recent example is on As the World Turns when they changed the Lilly character.  I don't care for the new actress, but sometimes the change is good.  I think it is when it is an established character that has been around forever & you have a connection with them.  The ones that don't really bother me that much is when they age the children like on Young & the Restless.
