It used to feel like a Democracy, but lately we've been ruled by Aristocracy (the class that has all the money), and Bureaucracy.

Well, it actually a democratic representative republic. Thank god it's not a true democracy. A true democracy would be horrible to live under.

Yes, Kamikaze Kitty, because "they ain't no such animal". No country on earth is now or has ever been a "democracy". Ancient Greece often gets the credit for inventing democracy, but 30% of the people were slaves; women had no rights; children had no rights, so NO DEMOCRACY. The U.S. was set up as a Republican form of Government (i.e., a "representative" form).

So, yes, it bugs me, because it isn't true. People should call things what they are...
