Question:

Does it bug you when people say their ages "i am 25 and i will be 26 next year "?

can,t we figure for ourselves, when a person states their age, that the following year or next birthday for them will increase their age by one?? whatelse do you find amusing about these kinds of people, or people who perhaps have to have this assurance

  1. I don't think it is annoying. I think they are trying to assert their independence by telling you that they are adults now, and will be even more adult a year from now. Which really isn't very adult at all, of course, but it's also about dominance. "I'm older than you now and I'll be even older than you later" or "I'm just as old as you now and I'll be just as old as you later" or "I'm younger than you now and even though I'll be a year older, I'll still be younger than YOU".  


  2. Of course I do. For some one to say that I feel they are assuming I am too dumb to figure it out on my own.  

  3. while is is stating the obvious...I don't let a small thing like that bother me.

I've never actually heard an adult say that.  Young kids do it because they are actually looking forward to being another year older (same reason they tend to say they are 10-1/2, 10-3/4, etc.).  The only reason I can see an adult saying that is if their birthday is coming up soon and they reply "I am 25 but will be 26 in September" but more for the qualification that they are almost 26.
