  1. It makes me think they are losing money and need to advertise so im happy about that. But of course i dont like it,especially the "go meat"! commercial.

  2. It doesn't bug me so much as it disgusts me. I am not fond of seeing hacked up body parts on TV.

  3. What other people eat is their problem...(almost literally)

i mean sure it's not that great, but what can you do? Not everyone is going to be vegetarians, so you have to accept actual reality... people eat meat. :O!!!

it doesn't really bother me, i mean think about it, you probably used to eat meat at one point in time too... then you were enlightened... if you are a vegetarian...

  4. no, it looks good

  5. It bothers me as much as most marketing. After all, look at what it has done to the population. People are obese and consumer-obsessed, generally.

If they are going to show it on television, I'd prefer they show the truth. Unfortunately, they lie so they can get their money. If you think they care about how unhealthy it is...you may want to consider a reality check.

They don't show what is involved, the suffering, the drugs, but they will show how it looks (when it looks nothing like an animal anymore) and how cheap it is. They will also forget to mention it is their fault we have such an obesity problem now.

  6. It actually depends on how they advertise it, really. I feel like as long as the meat presentation does not show close association with the source animal, it might be alright.

  7. It doesn't bother me at all. Being a vegan is something I'm doing for my own reasons, and it's important to accept that not everyone is going to see things the same way I do. Those advertisements are targeted toward people who eat meat (obviously), and I view them in the same way as ads for other products I have no interest in buying.

  8. No

    should it?

    I'm a meat eater.

  9. no.....there are a lot of ads on television for products that don't interest me, and several for products that disgust me.  this is just another ad to ignore along with the others.

as vegetarians and vegans i think it's about time we all got used to that kind of thing....we're in the minority, and we simply can't expect to live in a world where most people eat meat without every seeing ads for it, hearing about it on the radio, etc.

it's just like someone who chooses not to drink for whatever reason.....if they are going to get offended every time they see an ad for smirnoff.....well, they're going to get offended quite a bit.

there's nothing wrong with disliking a commercial (obviously)...the issue is how much you let a commercial affect you.  if you don't like the product, ignore it and move on. at the very least you know it will be over in 30 seconds =)

EDIT:  hellinore....i've seen that ad for ihop, and you're right, it's ridiculous.  more like, "i'm not a vegetarian....and i'm taking the fastest course possible to heart disease by drowning my fried animal flesh in gravy that i'd rather drink like a beverage."  ugh.  i have to agree with you...i think when fingers are pointed at veg*ns it is offensive, but otherwise i ignore it.

  10. yes, especially those "happy cow" ads.. when in reality, you know.

  11. I completely agree with Hellinores answer.

Also when they are showing a lot of uncooked meat it kind of disgusts me, just because it is gross looking flesh:)

  12. I don't see why it should unless the ad is specifically annoying. Should men get upset over make up ads because they don't use it?

You are not the target of the ad, why stick your nose into it?

  13. Usually it doesn't bother me....UNLESS

1- It's making meat look like its tasty or sugar-coating the reality of where the food comes from.

Case in point - the California cheese commercials where it shows cows talking to one another and romping in emerald green pastures under sunny skies. PUH-LEEZE!

    or

2- It's poking fun at vegetarians. There is an IHOP commercial that is promoting chicken fried steak smothered in gravy. The voice over says, "This sandwich says 'I'm no vegetarian...as a matter of fact, I don't even know a vegetarian'".  Seriously?

Otherwise, I don't really get bothered by the advertisements. I don't see meat as a source of food anymore, but sometimes it does make me sad when I think of where the meat is coming from and what the animals went through to produce it.
