Just how many people here on Yahoo Answers either cannnot spell or have extremely bad english skills? I don't mean to sound judgemental or horrible, i know that this isn't the fault of some individuals, it's merely an observation.

What were these people taught in schools!!!?

  1. I find that to be more common lately and I am not sure why either.  Lazy would be my first guess.  Frankly, I'd be embarrassed to type something and appear stupid due to improper grammar and/or misspellings.  Kind of ruins ones creditability don't you think?

  2. We all know this is an online web site, and people just socialize around on here.  When people socialize online; people don't care about spelling.  When people are on aim, yahoo answers, or whatever; people don't always care about spelling when socializing online.  It's a way people are on the internet.  I don't know if you relaized it yet or not, but who cares about spelling on the Internet or on aim.  Just socialize; there's people with that attitude.  So my final answer is, some people just don't care about spelling when they are on the Internet socializing.

  3. You didn't capitalize your I in the second sentence. ;-)

  4. It amuses me more than anything else. I'm either exactly or around their age & I find my grammar skills to be perfectly fine so I'm just left wondering, what's so hard about spelling everything correctly or at least having your statements make the least bit of sense. But I suppose I shouldn't be bothered by it much, I'M fine & that's all that matters to me.

  5. Sometimes I cannot understand the question, if a question was even formed at all.  It is a sad testiment to education in America.

I feel so bad for them, their future seems bleak.

I disagree with 'The Dude' .  In order to socialize, comprehension must take place.  It must be possible for thoughts and ideas to be exchanged.

  6. I couldn't agree more and am very sorry to say this it isn't likely to improve.

Several years ago I thought I would like to pursue a teaching degree.  It was positively appalling how many of my classmates, all aspiring teachers, could not spell or use correct grammar and punctuation.  Their papers and presentations completely took the wind from my sails and I abandoned that ambition like a rat from a sinking ship.

If I shared some of the e-mails I get from my son's teachers your hair would stand on end.

So-if those teaching can't manage these basic skills, how are we to expect the kids to be any better?

  7. yes it does

  8. I wonder myself...just to lazy to use the "spell" feature

  9. e.e cummings  said it best-- " why does thou have to use grammatical rules to communicate."
