  1. Health insurance, I'm guessing?

It depends on how healthy you are, of course. An individual health policy doesn't put you into a pool like a group health policy does. Therefore, less healthy people end up paying more for insurance. Another big factor is age.

You're also probably not going to be getting a policy that's extremely comparable to a group policy in terms of coverages and benefits. You're going to be paying a lot more for a lot less. I'd still recommend getting something for now, despite the expense (maybe $150 and up a month? i don't know much about you).

In the meantime, keep searching for a job that offers health insurance (and life, and retirement, etc.).

  2. You should talk to a broker and they can give you an accurate quote for your age and health. A Health Savings Account plan can save you a lot in premium. After you figure out the cost you can then compare the two jobs Don't take the job until you understand how much health insurance will cost you.

Try using yellowpages.com to search for health insurance brokers in your area.

Don't call your auto and home agent they specialize in property and causality insurance. You need someone that specializes in health insurance.

A Broker represents multiple carriers and can help you sort through all the different insurance companies and plan options in your state.
