Does it cost money to call overseas?

New Yorl, USA to Sweden.

If so how much?

Call your local provider or the one that provides your long distance.  Then add a overseas plan.  Once you make the call then remove the plan.  This way you will get the lowest possible rate.  Otherwise, you will pay the going rate for the call, and the company hardly ever will adjust it.

You mean to use something like a phone where a company has spent millions of dollars to put the infrastructure in place, hire staff to keep it running, and pay for maintenance?  Well, this may surprise you, but yes.  You would have to pay to use this company's tools.

If you use Internet chat, something that is paid for via advertising, then no.
