  1. It depends on where you go.  Most banks, if you are a customer, will notarize something for you for free (This is true of Bank of America and Wachovia, I'm not sure of other banks).  If you are purchasing a vehicle, a notary will be available at a dealership.  Check cashing places and Wal-Mart will charge you a fee, which is different from state to state.

    Edit:  Family members cannot notarize documents for immediate family members or other members of their household even if they are not related.


  2. Yes.   Usually a dollar or a few dollars, depending on where you have it done.   It's cheapest at government offices, like at the courthouse or city hall, but often costs more at commercial places like car dealers or real estate offices.   Call a few places and ask them.

  3. Usually...yes.  Anywhere from $20 to $50 bucks.  The best bet is to go by your bank where they may have someone that will do it for free or like $2.  Or find a family member that is a notary (yes, you can use family but you cannot notarize your own stuff if you are a notary).
