I bought something on a website using my visa electron card the other day costing £35. It asked me to enroll, setup username/password etc, and i did this. However £37.50 actually came off my account, but there was nothing in the terms and conditions saying they would charge it, didnt tell me it would, etc. Does it do this?

  1. I wasn't charged anything on both my debit card or credit card for this service :/

i don't know why you have.

i did do mine a few months ago, so unless it's something new, then i would recommend keeping an eye on your account to see if any more cash comes out that you're not sure about and following it up.

  2. No It does not, you may find it was postage costs or something similar

  3. yes standard charge

  4. No it doesnt cost anything.  The same applies to the MasterCard one (cant remember what its called).  you may needto find out if there was a delivery charge on whatever you bought, or a fee for paying by credit card, implemented by the retailer.

  5. Sounds like your bank are ripping you off.  Visa international don't levy a charge, but that doesn't stop credit card companies trying it on.  Complain.

  6. I have to agree with those that say that Verified by Visa is free.  It's free in the US, and I just checked the UK website, and there was not mention of a fee, neither.

It must have been a fee charged by the merchant.  If it would have been a Visa fee, it would have been billed seperately to your bank account.
