Does it damage your eyes if a computer moniter is bright?

What's the best setting I should use? I was thinking of dimming it a bit..would that help my vision not get worse? Also, is it better for your eyes if the computer room light is on or off?

  1. It's more restfull for your eyes to have balanced lighting. It won't damage your eyes either way, but eyestrain and tiredness can be reduced.

    Having lights on behind you and the monitor toned down a bit.

    What is more important than the brightness is the distance...try to keep the monitor 28 to 30 inches away from you.

    And look away from the screen very often , even for 10-15 seconds to let your eyes refocus at distance objects...
