  1. Unless you have a very old phone... (more than 5 years old) or bought an aftermarket charger...no. The batteries in most cellphones are lithium ion, some of the better phones like the Motorola V9 and Z9 have lithium polymer batteries. Neither of these batteries have memories.

It used to be that when you charged a cellphone, and took it off the charger before it completed it's cycle, the next time it charged it would only charge to the point you took it off at. Back in that era, it was also possible to overcharge batteries... I have seen batteries have this happen... they expand, almost tripil in siae, it's kind of amusing.

Today there is a safeguard built into most chargers to prevent overcharging (it's a little chip) There is also a safeguard on some phones. The only way to overcharge a phone now, is if you were to buy a charger from wal mart or the dollar store... those aren't made by the manufacturer in most cases. There are some reputable aftermarket chargers, but unless you actually know it is a good one, you shouldn't use it.

If you see a charger for $7.00 it's probably junk.

There are trickle and rapid chargers. Trickle chargers charge your phone slower, but if they dont' have a chip then they are safer. (It takes about 5 hours to get a complete charge with a trickle charger) rapid chargers charge much faster (about 2 hours for a full charge) But they are dangerous if they dont' have that chip.

So if you have one of these, go spend the 25 or 30 bucks and get one that is made for your phone.

The only aftermarket charger that I will say is good, are the i-go chargers. They have different tips so you can charge different things with one cord, and if you were to buy a new phone, you wouldn't have to buya whole new charger just a new tip.

The battery meters are a guide... but don't count on them too much.

I can put my phone on my charger completey dead and it will say it has almost a full charge after a half hour. I know it doesn't, but it says it does.

I compare this to the gas gauge in my car. I put $20 in my car tonight, and my gas gauge went up over the line for half a tank. I only put 4.5 gallons in.. I dont' have half a tank. The only time I pay attention to my battery meter is when it shows one bar, which means I need to charge it.

  2. ya some times battery may damaged. usually your phone indicates you when it fully charged.

  3. no it won't damaged your phone if the battery your using is original..its up to you if you wanna keep your phone on or off while charging..i keep mine on..different phones have different indications when battery is fully charged..so you have to know whats yours...Good Luck!!
