  1. Passenger area.

    Remember, the trunk doesn't have any windows.

    Therefore, the heat will get to the passenger area faster than getting into the trunk.

    Or if your car is like an SUV or similar models, trunk equals to passenger area.

    If you know what I mean!

    What I do is, cover my car's windows before I turn off the engine.

    But I know it wastes a lot of oil.

For a short period, the passenger area warms quicker in the daytime.  It's the greenhouse effect - light energy coming through the glass warms the interior of the car, the radiated heat has a longer wavelength and cannot escape through the glass.  Given a long period, the sun will eventually warm the trunk to the same temperature.

  3. It will get hotter in the passenger area of the vehicle. So if your passengers want to stay cool, have them ride in the trunk.
