I just sneezed and had to grab my tummy because it hurt! I am 23 weeks pregnant and it has not hurt before. I am not really that big (people can't even tell I am pregnant as I have only gained 5 pounds!) Is this normal??

Thanks!

  1. Yes, it's normal.  Your round ligaments are stretching and forceful sneezing/coughing makes it pull really quick and it causes those pains. I'm 20 weeks and I've had this for a few weeks.  As for the weight gain, it's a little on the low side for this part, but not horrible.  I lost 14 pounds the first trimester and have only gained 3, so I'm still -11 pounds, lol.

  2. If there was a problem with you not gaining weight, your dr will mention it.  It could be that your round ligament is stretching, thus causing the pain when you sneeze..I know as you get bigger, that will get more painful as it stretches. Just mention the concerns about your weight with your dr. If you are small to begin with, then it is pretty normal for you to stay small.

  3. I get that, too, or sometimes when you have a big sneeze, it almost feels like a muscle gets pulled on either side of your groin area? Painful :( It must just be normal. I feel it too :)

  4. yes, and yes. wait 'til you start peeing with your sneezes on top of it hurting!

  5. Yes, I will be 15wks on monday and sneezing ahs hurt me since I was just a few weeks pregnant. Also coughing hurts. I guess because everything is so tender in your belly that any pressure makes it hurt.

  6. Sometimes when you are pregnant, you muscles separate on your belly, which can cause pain when sneezing, coughing.  You can also develop a hernia from it which will cause that pain too.  Just let your doctor know.

I had my pelvis separate early and I hurt so bad, I could barely walk the last 2 months of pregnancy.  I seriously thought my pelvis had been broken.
