Does it hurt?

im getting braces in 45 minutes. does the pain hurt so bad its aggonizing enough to have to CRAWL ON THE FLOOR AND BARLEY CAN EAT. OR its just painfull enough to kill your mood? every were i look everybody says is SOOOOOOOOO painfull. ive had braces and an expander before and now have two retainers. those braces were just on the front four....how bad does it hurt????????

When you get them put on it isn't painful.  But after the first day..thats when h**l begins.

When you get them on it doesn't hurt at all! The next day it will hurt a little bit..you probably won't be able to eat hard foods. But don't worry because the pain only lasts for like a day or two. Not a big deal.

yup, it really does hurt...but juss for the first 2 0r 3 days ,,,,dont worry, juss take some pain killers and u'll be fine

Okay..one thing Nothing is as painful as everyone puts it out to be!!! It doesn't really hurt when your getting put on...my mouth felt numb afterwards..your teeth will be really sore for a couple days or weeks...two things apply : eat soft mushy stuff and take ibuprofen!!

it depends. for some people it could hurt A LOT. but for other people it doesnt hurt at all. me and my brother got our braces around the same time, were both the same age, he was in all sorts of pain but i hardly felt anything. dont think this is because he's a wimp and a big tough guy. actually he is the tough guy and im the sensitivive caring guy. all i'm trying to say is. it hurts some people more than others.

dont worry it doesnt hurt at all. when they tighten them itll hurt for about a day not enough to even kill your mood it will just ache so you cant chew very good.

It depends how bad your teeth are. It didn't hurt for me when i had them on, there were just soar for few days, and in a week you won't even feel them.

i think it depends on how bad your teeth are, but when i got mine on it didn't hurt that much. It was more annoying than painful. I took 2 tylenol extra strength right before i got them on and i think that helped with the discomfort. Don't be too worried about it. After you get them on you will only be in some sort of discomfort for like 3days and then you wont even notice it.

Not all that much i had braces in 4th grade to 5th and at the most all it does is your teeth are so tight that they are sensitive and food gets stuck in them alot....they're actually more annoying then they are painfull..be careful though the braces usually poke your cheek alot so you loose some skin but it really doesn't hurt believe me...good luck!

It depends on your thresh hold of pain.  My sister has a VERY low tolerance for pain.  Hers hurt every time she got them tightened so bad that she could only eat soft foods for a day like mashed potatoes.   I however had no  problems.  For a little while after they were tightened they just felt sore and then it would go away.

First of all Good luck, braces are annoying, but the only time they really hurt is when you get new wires and when they first go on. If you have to have an expander you will feel like your in h**l, not from pain, but because its so hard to eat and swallow, but you get used to it. I've had my braces for almost a year now and they don't hurt when they change the wires. I highly recommend you take a few Advil or Tylenol before you go. Braces aren't too bad once you get used to them. Just remember to wear rubber bands on them if they say to or you could end up like my sister who has to wear them for a lot longer. To answer your question in further depth, braces do hurt when they go on, its not a throbbing pain and it should subside in around 3-4 hours. If you don't want to bring the pain back just make sure you stick to very soft food. Once again good luck.

Honestly, when I had first had my braces put on, it didn't hurt at all. My teeth were a tiny but achy the next day and when I had them tightened I had to eat soft food for the rest of the day.

My daughter's mouth was pretty sore for about a week, advil really help. She did have to stick with eating soft easy to chew foods during that time.

it dont hurt   the worst thing is u have to eat about 30 mins after cuzz in about an hour after it gets a lil swore and a lil swollen but it is about the same pain as gettin a lil sore in ur mouth.

not at all, i have brace bud and it didnt hurt at all, i had a little headache the next morning but thats because you jaws is adjusting to your new equipment. You'll come to realize braces are awesome. i love mine, people are babies if they think they hurt.
