  1. You still feel the punch but the worse 16 ounce can do is put you in a daze, a busted nose or black eye or bloodied lip or knocked you down. There have not been serious injuries with 16 ouncers. Plus you should get a mouthguard and headgear. I have 16 ounces and 18 ounce gloves. I preferred those sizes. The downside of the 16 and 18 is that it takes away your hand speed and power because you are carrying a lot more weight on your hands.

  2. Well I've sparred with everything from 16 to 8oz gloves.  In the end you're getting HIT.  They all hurt to some extent.  Really it depends on how big the person is and how hard they're hitting and if they know what they're doing, but I would say it does.  Does it hurt as bad as lighter gloves?  Not at all.  You can totally tell the difference.  You should only be sparring in 16s or 14s at the lightest.  The one time I sparred with 8oz gloves was with a female pro that weighed about 115 lbs.  I thought that the weight difference would help me compensate for the small gloves.....not so much.  Let me tell you, it HURT.  She left a nice knot above my eye.  You can totally tell the difference between the weights.

  3. OH YEAH! Anything else?

  4. 16 oz. gloves,  or training gloves are made to protect the hands while sparring, along with the use of headgear and a good cup protector. Your're actually better off getting hit with the bigger gloves, than 8 or 10 oz.

  5. i spar with 10oz. gloves and im alright. 16oz. is really thick, u probably wont even feel the punches.
