  1. I had a molar pulled when I was pregnant and yes it does hurt, but they do use novacaine.

From start to finish, mine was impacted too so that complicated matters, it took about 10 mins. It may be quicker with you since my tooth broke in two pieces and the dentis had to extract two pieces of molar.

Just hink of it this way, once it's out, you will feel TONS better.

I think a lot of it depends on your theshold for pain.

  2. I had one taken out last Friday.  Trust me, its so much better than the pain.  Mine was so absessed that it was loose and he hardly had to pull.  Yes, they use Novacaine, but usually they have to tug quite a bit.  Either way, there's some pressure, and that's all you should feel.  If you feel anything else, you should tell the dentist immediatly, so he can give more novacaine.

Oh, just a note....  Some dentists don't particularly like pulling abscessed teeth until the patient has been on antibiotics to kill some of the infection.  This didn't happen with me.  He said he was sure he could get me numbed enough to take it out, and he did.  Don't be scared.  If you are in pain, its so much better.  Even the soreness after the procedure is over is nothing compared to the pain you may be feeling.

  3. It doesnt hurt as such but you can feel the pressure, feel the tuggin pullin n crunchin.not nice at all.here in uk we get an injection in the gum to numb the area.you dont feel pain but it is rather sore once the needle wears off.dont mean to scare you but being as honest as possible.good luck

  4. First of all, your dentist won't take your tooth out until the infection has healed. I expect you are taking antibiotics now? Yes? The pain of an abcess is excrutiating and can cause all sorts of problems. However, it doesn't hurt to have the tooth out because you will be given lignocaine injections first - and they work really well. The whole thing will probably be over in a couple of minutes. Just a note - you will feel some pulling but don't be scared by this, it won't hurt. Tell your dentist how nervous you are and remember they deal with nervous patients all the time. He/she wants to make you better. You will feel a bit sore when the painkillers wear off after it's done but the mouth is brilliant at healing quickly so you should be fine again in a couple of days. Just follow the instructions on the care sheet you'll be given.

Take a few deep breaths before hand and relax. Your fear of it is far worse than having it done.
