Does it hurt to pierce the top of your ear?

I'm going to pierce my ear a little above the holes that I already have. I haven't pierced anything in about 9 years,so I don't remember if it was painful. I just remember they got infected and were huge. So will it hurt? And where can I buy earings for that?

the actual piercing doesnt hurt.. i took mine out after 8 months because i still couldnt sleep on the pierced ear.. never again!

The piercing isn't bad...but the post before me is right. Piercing there takes forever to heal....if it even heals! I had mine in for over 2 years and it stayed red the whole time.. i cleaned it and took care of it. It gets caught on things while sleeping...and most people i know end up letting it close after no more than 6 months
