Does it look nerdy to have a fender on your bicycle?

As usefull as they might be, keeping mud and water from flinging up onto your backside...   yeah, they are kinda nerdy.  lol  But then again, how old is the rider, what kind of bike is it, and where do you ride..??  If ur young and want to look cool, i'd leave it off.  

Heck, I see kids ride with thier helmets hanging off thier handlebars because it's 'not cool' to wear a helmet.  It's a h**l of a lot cooler than blowing urself around in a wheelchair, that's for sure.

No. And if you ride through muck / mud / or water it will save your clothes...

There are bikes that look cool with fenders and there are bikes that do not look cool with fenders.

Fenders are great if you are commuting and don't want to mess up your clothes or are going somewhere where you need to be neat.

Bianchi makes cool bikes with fenders for example.

If you've got an old beater and add fenders, that has a certain style as well-it shows that you are a dedicated rider and favor function over form.

Bottom line-you define cool.

If you like it, embrace it and make no qualifications and to you it is cool. Believe it.

Keep it in the big ring.

A little bit, but that is unimportant. They have a purpose. If riding off road or as a commuter (to work or school) you don't want to have mud or water from the tires being thrown on you. On a road racing bike, you want to shave its weight and make it as aerodynamic as possible.
