30" TV in an entertainment center that closes, but it takes up the whole room. I'm thinking about getting rid of it and getting a LCD TV for the wall. I'm also going to rearrange the room so that the corner fireplace is the focal feature. Opinions, please.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of hanging flat screens.  The lack of a floor footprint is a huge plus, of course, which is why most people do it.  For all the space it frees up.  Ultimately, it depends on the room in question.  If you want to make the fireplace the key element in the room, hanging the tv elsewhere will help do that.  but then, why not eliminate the TV from that room all-together, and put it somewhere else?

    An idea I love though, is this: remember those old home stereos that looks like a table, until you lifted up part of the surface and it revealed the controls inside?  I think a tv revealed inside a cabinet like that could look really cool, especially since when not in use, it become a curiosity piece.

    Just one thought.
