Does it make a differance to my insurance that my car has no alarm?

Yes as you get a discount for having your vehicle secure, but I wouldn't say the discount merits spending decent money on an alarm unless you are really concerned about your vehicle being stolen.  Be sure to make it clear to them you don't have one though as they can refuse a theft claim.

It does make a different to your insurance because if you have some form of anti theft device, your car is less likely to get broken in to your stolen.  Having an alarm does save you on your car insurance but not that much.

They don't worry too much about alarms, they DO like immobilisers.
