I heard that if you fill up your car with gas once it gets only 1/2 empty, it'll will burn the fuel more slowly than if you wait until it's almost completely empty. Is this really true? If so, how?

  1. It has nothing to do with how fast the fuel burns, The car weighs more with a full tank, but you have less chance of getting junk from the tank in your engine.

Pumping gas in the morning is best. The fuel is cooler and more dense. Gallons is a volumetric measurement, more dense more gasoline. Keep your tires @ pressure and your air filter clean (get a K&N)

  2. The full tank of gas will have more weight than a 1/2 tank.  That extra weight might pull down your fuel economy slightly.  Your fuel consumption will depend on driving habits and condition of car, as well as how much extra weight your car is carrying and tire inflation.
