Does it make a difference with my flight?

ok so i booked a flight on travelocity and on there you have to be booked with an adult to fly. (im a minor). and i just clicked that i was an adult. ill be 17 when i go on my trip. i just wanna know if it will make a difference when i go to check in at the counter. will they not let me fly?

  1. It depends on the carrier.

    For most (if not all) US carriers a 17 year-old can fly unaccompanied, so it shouldn't matter at all.  If you're not checking luggage you can actually check in without having to show your ID.  When TSA does the ID check they are looking for a name match and if you have the special code on your boarding pass that subjects you to secondary screening.  They won't be worried about your age.

    If you have questions, you can check on most carriers websites.  Do a search for "unaccompanied minor."
