Does it make sense to get a graduate degree in genetics and an MBA?

i want to work in a science field particularly genetics/pharmacy but i know the pay isnt particularly good and its hard to move up. Im currently rapping up my genetics degree at UC Davis is my plan of doing an MBA and a genetics graduate program good? I would love to work in management in bio/pharm company like genentech etc

  1. That's a high class question.  :) Good for you that you have those kind of options.  There is a lot of business in the medical field.  Having an MBA would qualify you right away for management and give you an edge when it comes to looking for a job or future promotions.  Good Luck to you!


  2. The MBA was designed for scientists who want to become managers but can understand the language of the people they manage. Two graduate programs may be a bit demanding. the normal approach is get the degree, work 2-3 years in your field then get the MBA. But if you candle additional graduate work, go right ahead.
