Question:

Does it make you mad when the waitress or waiter keeps the coin part of the change?

When it happens to me I often let that be the person's tip. It burns me up when they seem to think they are entitled to my money.

If the person rounds off the tip in my favor I tip very well or if they bring it all back I tip pretty well (usually over 20%)

  1. That's not good service.

A server should always assume that the guest wants change.

It's a basic rule, and it would definitely make me mad.

  2. i dont make much  money and when going on a date the woman expects you to go to some restaurant that is nice.. and to make matters worse.. the restaurant is self service that is you go to the salad bar... go to the cook pick your piece of meat..and return with the dish to your table.. then all of a sudden a woman comes with coffee and a try of some kind of sourcream for your potato if you have gotten one.. and when the meal is finished  and  youj pay with  your credit card there is a place for tip.. and they dont run it through until you fill in the tip amount... well i solved all that .. a small filet cost you fifty dollars for two people.. so why not buy a stick of filet about seventy dollars and cut a slice off and cook diner for the lady.. they really like this i found out.. yo make a better impression than if you went to the restarant   where you have to wait in line out front.. and why not buy one of those ice cream cakes for desert.. clean  your place well and eat by candlelight.. you are better off.. no dirty looks when you dont leave a tip.. no harrassement when you are trying to talk to your date.. example i had a arguement with one of thease people and they told me they got one thousand six hundred in tips a night from the c**p table. just bringing drinks over  ok gilermo

  3. Yeah! what do they think, it's like, their money? I can't stand it! Ask them to go to $*$*!

  4. Never has happened to me and I eat out a lot!

  5. I owned a family style restaurant for a number of years and if one of our waitresses was guilty of stealing the coins from a customer's change, they would have been dismissed on the spot.

  6. What? I can say that has never happen to me. Ya I would so give them a tip (NEVER TOUCH MY MONEY. AND LET ME TALK TO YOUR MANAGER. I DON'T CARE THAT IS MY FIFTY CENTS). b*#@$!!!!!!

  7. That has never happened to me.  Wow!  I would consider that stealing, which is a crime.  I would also consider it a poor reflection on the restaurant, which I would loudly voice to anyone within shouting distance.  I would also inform the manager that I intended to call the Troubleshooter team at the local news station.  Wonder how they would feel answering on camera why an employee, under their supervision and representing their restaurant, would ASSUME they are entitled to a tip and, in reality, took money out of my kids' mouths.  Then...just to be mean, I would let them keep the nickel. :)

  8. I find it VERY irritating. They aren't too happy (they're actually embarrassed) when I ask for it. That's only to make a point because I give it back to them. They fail to fathom that the customer s under NO obligation to leave TIPS.

Technically, we should give them this gratuity before we get served. After all, it stands for: To Insure Prompt Service.
