Does it make you nearly insane to have done or do home improvements?

We re-did our whole bathroom like 10 years ago, a nightmare. We noticed months ago that there was a discoloration on the floor under the linoleum around the toilet. I have a contractor, a good one so far, replace the floor around it last week. He'll be back tomorrow as this led to new linoleum, two walls being refinished from water exposure, new trim. You know one thing leads to another. It makes me crazy though when we have to do stuff like this. The mess, that ends up all through your house, no water when these things are done, etc. Plus I am anal about cleaning and seriously have OCD, so messes make my crazier.

Nope, doesn't bother me at all. I do almost all my own repairs, decorating and so on and I'm the one who gets to clean up the mess too, before I cook dinner. I just consider it kind of like camping when things around the house aren't working for a bit. Besides, if you want or need things different than they were, you just have to put up with some inconvenience, no way around it.  Work on reducing the OCD, life will be better..

my wife makes me remodel our baths every couple of years, new paint , looks fresh, nice. worth the effort? i think so.

You should have water if you have a shut off valve on the water supply to the toilet.  One thing does lead to another but if you clean the mess up as you go it isn't that bad and you need to concentrate more on the finished project and what it will look like rather than the mess.
