Question:

Does it matter if I buy a freestyle board if I am a beginner?

I've been riding about 8 or 9 times, and this is my first season. I see myself being more freeride than freestyle in the future. I have this great deal at the board shop for a k2 anagram wide 159 at 40% off, but it's a freestyle board. I am still open to freestyle in the future, but I still think I'll be mostly freeride. Should I get a different board, or is this suitable for my first few seasons?

I am 6'2'', 180 lbs, size 11 boot

  1. Dont just say i will be freeride.Freestyle boards are very comfort and easy to handle.I would suggest buy that board and keep it for a couple of years before going to freeride boards.I hope i ve helped

  2. There's a lot of boards coming on sale all over the place (northern hemisphere) as season is nearing the end and I'd say you should try to shop around for something all mountain free-style. Go for a stiffer board than a pure Freestyle  one which are usually quite a bit softer. You may need a wide one for your feet and there's loads about too.

  3. I agree with Rozalita that for a begineer its generally best to go for an All mountain board as you dont always end up doing the type of riding you initially think you will like. But i think the Anagram will be alright for you as it an all mountain freestyle board rather than park board so should handle ok for all types of riding. Good Luck.

  4. Go with an all mountain board.  You might benefit from the softness of a park board at first but if you're not primarily in the park it's not going to be the best board for you (but not completely wrong).

Most biards should be starting to gear up on sale soon so keep your eyes peeled.
