Does it matter if I only drink water?

My mom seems to think that it's unhealthy drinking only water each and every day. I don't enjoy coke and fizzy drinks. I drink 6 - 8 glasses a day.

  1. its not unhealthy, but there is such a thing as water intoication where drinking too much can cause your body to be flushed of essential salts and minerals. 6-8 glasses a day is fine. yor mom is probably worried about you over-doing it.

    if it would make her happy, throw in a gatorade or something.


  2. You could do better with 8 to 12 glasses if you like. Water is the healthiest drink there is. Get some exercise every day with a balanced diet and you will be healthy for life.

    i mean it has all the vitamins.

    but atleast have juice.

  4. Yo mamas crazy! It is sooo good for you! It is the best drink for you and the best for your body. In fact, you do need like 8 glasses a day- you need it. fizzy drinks are bad for you anyways.

  5. It is not unhealthy at all to drink only water. Water is good for you. It maintains our temperature, helps our blood transport nutrients, cleans out toxins, helps with digestion, helps our organs funtion, makes our skin and hair nice, gives us energy, increases our motabolism, and makes us more alert.

    About 70% of the body is water and 80% of the brain. So why would water not be healthy? If that is all you are drinking you may need a bit more. For proper hydration we need 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight plus 8 more ounces for every 20 minutes of exercise.  With hot/dry days and climates we need even more.

    If we become dehydrated then we become tired. It is our body's way of protecting istelf so we don't harm it by overexerting ourselves when we don't have enough water.

    Anything else will simply have calories and sugars you just don't need to have. Even juice has natural sugars.

I'm surprised your mom would even consider that your love for water is unhealthy.  She might just see it as not normal, but as a lot of people have said, it is very healthy and a very good habit to get into.  If you want to flavor it at all just a tiny bit, you could add lemon, cucumber slices, lime, or try drinking tea.  These are very subtle tastes I think you'll enjoy and also very healthy.  I applaud your taste in healthy beverages.
