it does especially if the receiver is very particular or sensitive with speaker feedback. there are speaker wire guages to be observed to be able to get an optimized signal going to the speakers.

using inappropriate speaker wires can sometimes activate protection circuit of some receivers (like onkyo).

to be safe, and as much as possible, use a uniform set of speaker cables.

There is no reason it should matter, so long as both wire types are appropriate for the speakers they are connecting to.
