i am eager in purchasing more ram for my laptop.

currently i have two sticks of 512mb and its upgradable to 2g ram, and i was going to purchase 2g of ram from crucial.com and was wondering if it matter if i bought the cheapest vs. the more expensive?

is the more expensive ram faster? or is it just buying the "brand"

  1. anything from crucial.com is reliable. i'd go with the cheaper ones

  2. yes !

    dont buy a kingston, which can be any cheap ram chips.

    samsung is over clockable.

  3. If you want to buy 'em in pairs, id recommend corsair, they specialise in memory

    And 2gb is more than enough for a laptop, you should be fine

  4. with RAM price does matter. crucial is the cheapest band u can get which does = slowest. not gonna get into the details but it is. Unless u are a extreme gamer the speed difference wont mean sh*t cause u wont care. also that dude that said kingston is **** is a tard.  its better then crucial and is way more reliable.

    do some research to find what you are after. I like the corsair band. if u can buy that instead of crucial. curcial imo sucks the most in every aspect except price

  5. RAM Does have speed associated with it.

    Usually when you buy it says the speed and capacity.

    FOR EXample: 667 MHZ Dual Channel 1GB

    Speed = 667MHZ

    Capacity = 1GB

    There are other speed factors too for ram but this is probably all you need to look at.

    Don't buy more than 3GB its pointless you get no benefit from it on 32 bit machines.  Almost all computers are 32 bit right now.

    dual channel memory is faster than non dual channel but your motherboard has to support dual channel memory.
