I have been reading posts on other websites and a lot of people say your GPA matters a lot when getting hired after you graduate from an Accounting program. Is this true? I know I cant afford to go to the BEST business schools in the country. The university thats closest to me their business program ranks 41st overall for their undergraduate business program and their graduate program ranks 55th. Is that bad? When you get hired is the hiring manager going to care what business school you went to? Im just worried about that some IVY league graduate will beat me out of a job!

  1. While you said the GPA matters(not the school) and that what really matters.  You have to study hard no matter which school you go to.  It's the GPA that will get you hired.

Most companies want an overall GPA (on 4.0 scale) of 3.5 or higher to get a job.

The school you go to does not matter. The school should be an accredited school..that matter. So study hard and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher to get a job quickly after graduation.

Accountants are so much in demand that the school does not really matter.

Though honestly i have heard of people with low GPAs in the accounting field that have been hired because there is so much demand
