Question:

Does it matter what electives I take in HS?

I want to pursue a career in architectural designing. I'm taking CAD (drafting) and drama. But I don't want to do drama anymore. I really want to take woodworks. I asked my cousin (whose now in uni) and she said I'm better off taking drama instead. I don't want to be stuck taking a class I don't enjoy in the long run. This is my last year to decide. Once I decide on an elective, I can't change it.

What do you suggest?

  1. Drama is a humanities class, that's why your cousin suggested you continue in it.  But if you don't like it, you won't do well so it won't look too good on your transcript.  I would suggest looking into another humanities class, like philosophy or art.  You can use the art to do sketches of buildings, etc. which many companies use.

  2. Electives matter big time in high school. They're just as important as your other classes, actually. Woodworks sounds like a better fit for you since you want to be an architect. Anything that can be remotely helpful in your career choice is a good class to take. Even though it is your last year, it still counts.

Don't let senioritis get its grip on you! :)
