  1. Prephaps you should go into a piercing shop (prefferably the one you got pierced at) and ask them what material your lip ring is made of? It does matter, quite a bit actually. You should only be using stainless steel or titanium in your lip espicially if its new. You shouldnt use gold, silver, acrylic, or any cheap metals- these are all porous which means they are a breeding ground for bacteria and can cause infections. Cheap metals can poison the blood as well if they rust in your lip...so you need to get this checked out.

It might not be the material for it though, you say its nto red and theres no pus- prehaps you have accidently bought the lip ring in a bigger size by mistake? This would have stretched it and caused it to beome sore.

Also how long have you had the piercing? You shouldnt be changing it for 6-8 weeks...changing it before its healed is never really a good option- this will make it sore again, so if thats what you've done, its probably the reason why its hurting.

You should check up on the things ive said, if none of those things are correct then the problem may lie elsewhere in which case you should check with a piercer or doctor. Make sure to keep sea salt soaking your lip and do hot compresses to promote blood flow and aid healing. Keep up the cleaning regime for the total healing time. I would say you should leave it a week before seeking help. Atm, it doesnt sound as if you have anything major to worry about, sometimes piercing just get a little sore when you put new jewellery in.

Good luck and i hope i helped!

  2. Yes it matters..any material can react with moisture will get corrosion and it will lead to infection..

  3. yeah, you could have the wrong metal - i had my nose done with quite cheap stuff and it wouldn't heal and it looked awful, then i got it changed to what i think was real silver and it healed perfectly.

so go back to your piercer and ask them for something you're less likely to be allergic to ( even though it isnt red or anytthing, you could be have an intolerance to whatever metal you have )

if youve only had it done for less than a few months though it might just be sore because it's new

  4. Piercing jewelry should always be implant grade (316vL) stainless steel or titanium. If there are threads on the jewelry (barbells, curved barbells, etc) they should be internal threads. All piercing jewelry should have a mirror polish.

If you picked up a cheap piece of jewelry you could be having an allergic reaction to it. If you just had the piercing recently, changing the jewelry could be the cause. Try switching out your jewelry for the original (if the bead from the new one will fit) or pick up some quality jewelry (I recommend Anatometal jewelry - more expensive, but great quality - most piercing studios will carry it)

  5. stainless steel is what i recommend, as im a piercer/tatt artist..

some people are allergic to this and use titanium instead..

as long as your cleaning it properly and not touching it too much the pain will go away.. it will be sore for quite some time as you have made a hole in a very sensitive area, which takes longer then most piercings to heal..

    xo

  6. Just use the best one, the expensivest one is the best.

  7. stainless steel or silver. and you could of hit your mouth in your sleep causeing it to be sore again, or it just hasnt completely healed up. dont mess with it, and clean it with antibacterial soap or sea salt water...not alcohol or peroxide. and you could be alergic to certain types of retainers. i csnt use colored stainless steel...dont know why, but it makes my whole ear turn red.
