Is there any advantage to going to one with more name recognition?

Are you more likely to be accepted into your number one choice residency program if you go to a big name school?

  1. Yes, prestigious schools do get you better residency acceptances. They know you're the best, so they want you to train with them. Even more so, these top schools have a lot of near exclusive residencies with hospitals that they are affiliated with, such as their teaching hospitals. These tend to be among the best hospitals in the country, and thus the best residencies.
