Does it matter where you get your undergrad degree?

I had to choose between St Mary's University in San Antonio and Berea College in KY for this fall. I could've chosen UTSA but when I went to visit, it's big size overwhelmed me. So that explains Berea and St Mary's.I liked st marys when I went to visit bc its San Antonio and its close to home, and i've heard good things about it. its expensive however i know loans exist. I live with my mom and she didn't save up anything for my future and right now she's unemployed.

Thats why I chose Berea College in KY. Its really far away and I've never been there and I've only heard very little about it. maybe bc i live in tx? idk but they're giving me a full tuition scholarship and they're paying all of my room and board expenses. All I'll have to pay for are my books and transportation which I'm sure I would also have to do in St Mary's.

so did I make the right choice taking advantage of the opportunity at Berea? does it matter where one graduates from when one applies for grad school?

  1. before making your final decision make sure that scholarship will be automatically renewed for the subsequent years.  Don't get a free year, only to be left high and dry in subsequent years.
