Does it matter who takes you to the dmv to get your permit?

my cousin is going to go take hers but both her parents work the days they are open...so my dad is willing to take her but they don't know if that is allowed

  1. Someone must sign for the permit stating that he/she will be financially responsible for the person who is getting the permit. That is why it is usually a parent who signs for the permit. If your dad signed for her license, he would be legally responsible if she had an accident. Her parents can sign the paperwork and have it notarized and your dad can just drive her to the DMV. Good luck.


  2. I think as long as the accompanying person is licensed to drive and will be driving to and from the licensing office then it's okay..


  3. Call the DMV first. I believe a parent or legal guardian must sign in person for the permit.
