Question:

Does it really affect an electronics battery to partialy charge it?

when im going out for a day and im leaving in an hour or so, and my cell phone and/or iPod is dead, ill charge then for the hour or whatever and keep it on reserve, my dad tells me that kills my battery life, is that true?

  2. Modern Li-ion batteries, as used in your cell phone and iPod, are not affected by this kind of use. Partial charging and then using the device won't kill the battery any faster than fully charging it and then using it.

    Your dad is thinking about the older Ni-cd batteries, which were used in phones about 10 years ago. These did not like being charged a bit and then used.
