  1. Perhaps so but less to hope The Green Party as in Environment sweeps to power in The Middle East and the world. No oil use weapons and wars. Portrayals of brainwashed Consumer and Religious fanatics of all stripes to fall by the wayside.

  2. It is hypocritical but not because of the invasion of Iraq.  The correct comparison would be the US and NATO intervention in Serbia.  We took the view that Kosovo should be taken away from Serbia because, rightly or wrongly, they were no longer capable of maitaining the Kosovars in the Serbian state without repression.  We then intervened, by bombing Serbia and ripping away a part of their land, and then using the "International" community and legal talk to justify both the cause, need, and outcome.  All of this regardless of Russia's warning and protest.

Now obviously, the Russians are doing the same thing with the two break away republics.  The Georgians, like the Serbs before, tried to take back by force those regions and the Russians stepped in on the side of the seperatists.

Regardless, with Iraq, all the legal talk with the UN resolutions are still without any substance.  Israel has not followed a single resolution in 40 or so years, but it is still a convenient member of the "Intl" community.  The war in Iraq was an American power play, no matter how you want to spin it, a war of choice.

Now with this conflict, we are simply put in the position Russia was in the Serbian issue.  Sure we are going to use our continuous talk of "free" nations to make Russia look like the bad guy, but in the end, this was about Russia doing what it saw in its own interest the same way we do all over the world for ours.

Rice only smerks off Lavrovs' comments because they are what she might use, and actually, are much better because at least they are obvious and blunt.  We behave with a tremendous double standard, often hiding it with blankets of nice sounding ideological sound bytes.

  3. You may be right.

The cops shot a bad guy here yesterday.

Give us your address so we can have them shoot you, just to even things up.

    Don't make inappropriate comparisons.

  4. Yes, but as the only superpower remaining in the world we supposedly have the right to be hypocrites...

  5. Not particularly. What treaties between Russia and Georgia were the Georgians flouting?

  6. No, Russia reason for invading Georgia are BS. Its obvious now that dictator putin wishes to restore the soviet empire

  7. We didn't invade Iraq to make it part of the USA.  Russia invaded Georgia in 1922, made it part of the USSR and, as a punishment for Georgia's declaration of independence in 1991, Russia wants to invade it again and force Georgia *TO BE PART OF RUSSIA* all over again...........even a kindergarten child can see the difference, but you probably wont.

  8. Obviously, it is.

  9. It isn't hypocritical because:

-Georgia has not attacked numerous neighboring countries

-Georgia has not defied 17 UN resolutions

-Georgia has not refused UN mandated weapons inspection/searches

-Georgia has not fired on jets that patrol UN mandated "No Fly Zones"

If Georgia did same things that Iraq did they would deserve to be invaded by Russia. Does this answer your question?

  10. Yes, it is. And not only hypocritical but also an outrageous comedy.
