  1. You could get lucky! Just have someone who knows a lil about cars go with you "car hunting." The main thing is to remember not to pick the first good deal you find, but wait and see everything out there first. Then you can make a better decision. Look under the car for leaks, test drive them, make sure everything seems to be in working order before forking over the money. You don't wanna get a lemon!

  2. Look into estate sales, if there is a car then it will have very low miles and be priced to sell. This is a good place to start.

  3. Yes!

    98 Acura CL

    98 Ford Mustang V6

    98 Honda Accord or Civic

    98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder

    98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy

98-00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

  4. Yes, I do it all the time. You have to be a smart shopper, know how to negotiate, how to recognize potential problems and know how to say no if the deal feels wrong.  You also have to be patient.

  5. You can get a really good car for free, darlin'.  It's not about price.

If you're buying a car from a total stranger, then certainly you can buy a car for $1000 or so (the scrap value is $500) and drive it for the rest of your life.   It is do-able.  You have to really know what you're doing.  You might need to get somebody who is a car buff to help you look for one.

  6. Yes, my parents just bought a Honda Accord used for $4000 and it has a lovely interior and exterior and it is FULLY LOADED. It runs great too.

  7. Hah, noo... there is no chance. But then again, what's your idea of a really good car?
