Well, today i found out that that dirty skunk OJ Simpson is in the HoF...i think its just wrong for a double murderer who should be in jail, to be alongside some of the legends of our game and people who I hold in high esteem...So I was wondering what your thoughts are on OJ being in the Hall...

  1. It's very apparent that you don't have to be a "good guy" to be honored in the realm of sports.

No, it doesn't sicken me that OJ is in the Hall of Fame. He put up some incredible numbers when he was playing. It is a huge accomplishment any way you slice it - regardles of what he did LONG after he was inducted.

Like the others said - there isn't enough time in the day to talk about all the players who have done some questionable things off the field. It doesn't make them any less talented. It doesn't seem fair, but life's not fair.

  2. I totally agree with you.

He should NOT be in the HOF, good player or not he shouldn't be honored and recognized by the NFL, what kind of example is that setting.. not a very good one.

Hm I wonder how many thumbs down I can manage to get on this one..

  3. He should be nominated in the HOF for murderers that got away with it then wrote a book about how he is guilty, loser!!!!!!!!!   (meaning OJ)

  4. Nope... the HOF is for on the field accomplishments not off the field and based on what he did on the field he earned his spot with flying colors

  5. No. He was a tremendous football player. When he was playing, there was nothing wrong with him. Just as a side note, along with being in the Hall of Fame, he's also in jail. I think he'd rather be out of both, but he doesn't get that choice.

  6. Did OJ have the type of career that earned him HOF honors?  Yes.  In his prime he will forever be one of the best RBs of all time.  A rare mix of speed, power, and agility.  Should his off the field activities strip him of the HOF honors?  Probably but then you could say the same for several others like Lawrence Taylor and Michael Irvin (both admitted heavy cocaine users while they were active players).

  7. Not at all.. think of all the records he set in football.. think of all the money the White owners earned off his legs.. think of all the good times he gave to the world.. all those stadiums filled with cheering ...

His wife was a cheating on him

He was not even around to do it ..he cried as they laid her to rest.. I guess he still loved that gold digger..

  8. I drink Apple Juice because I heard OJ will kill you!

Orenthol James was inducted into the HOF in 1985 he didn't kill anyone (allegedly) until 1994 & due to his celebrity status couldn't be convicted.

  9. It doesn't bother me a bit.  Here are the reasons:

    1) He is arguably one of the 5 best running backs to ever play the game.

    2) A jury of his peers determined in a court of law that the State of California failed to prove to he was guilty of murder.

    3) The guidelines used by the Hall of Fame very specifically state that only a player's on field accomplishments should be considered to determine whether or not a player should be included.

    4) Finally, I do not have any respect for or grant any credibility to the Hall of Fame because it continues to exclude players based on the position they played.  So I don't care who is in the Hall because it's all just a joke anyway.

  10. Actually I'm more upset about Irvan. You know a man who was CONVICTED DURING HIS CAREER and not only did he get to keep playing but he made the HOF, when most fans would have said he wasn't the best on the ballot at that time. Just because Aikman whined for him he got it. Now O.J. had a great career and made it in the Hall LEGITIMATELY. THEN YEARS LATER he was ACCUSED of a Double Murder. The State of California couldn't make a strong enough case and he was found NOT GUILTY. Even if you want to go by the Civil Case all he was found guilty of was wrongful death. That basically means that the jury thought he could have done something to stop it, NOT that he did it. Add the atmosphere of the time and you could question that verdict as well.

That's just comparing two stories involving two football players, as was pointed out you could include other sports and players and more crimes. Are you going to get PISSED when Ray Lewis is put in the HOF? 10-1 says he is put in AND he "killed"(same as OJ if you want to go by the legal realm) while he was playing.

Actually Five kids since you want to bring up the legal system let's do that. According to the American Legal System you are INNOCENT until proven guilty in a Court of Law. SO if you are found Not Guilty then by American Legal System you are INNOCENT. When we face God's justice it may be different, but as far as America is concerned he is legally innocent.

  11. I think he's a nice guy

  12. NO, he was a great player and he didn't commit no double murder or he would be in jail now.

Plus if irving is a hall of famer then i guess there is no reason why OJ is not one.

  13. Think about this...

Pete Rose who arguably is one of the top 10 baseball players of all time, is not allowed in for Gambling.

I guess gambling is worse then double homicide.

  14. You just found out today that O.J. Simpson is in the Hall of Fame? He's been in there for 20 years.

Yeah, is unfortunate that he is in the Hall of Fame, but he was in long before he committed (allegedly) the murders. I, like most people believe he did it, but unfortunately the legal system let him slip through the cracks. You can't kick a guy out of the HOF for a crime he wasn't proven of committing.

  15. OH YEAH!!!!!!!!

he is not a nice man

  16. They need to put an asterisk next to his picture / bust.

  17. NO I am not--  he didnt snap until after his football days, when he was running the ball he was an awesome player.

  18. Well, He was found "Innocent" for the murders But for guilty for criminal crimes for the murders and had pay millions to the Goldman and Brown Families  but hasn't and probley won't. Me I feel he's guilty as sin  and after writing a book if I did it .But, as stated early he was a great in the game and had this happened after his career and before his selection to the hof he would not have gotten in and I won't  label someone a name because He or she does not agree with me ok five

  19. As much as I hate him for his actions after his football career was over.  It doesn't change the fact that he had a phenominal, hall of fame career as a football player.

  20. he was in the HOF long before anything happened, and just to be technically correct, he was found not guilty of the murder (not saying he didn't do it).  OJ was one of the greatest running backs in the game and a lot of the great members of HOFs for all sports weren't the greatest people in the world.

How come you aren't outraged about Ty Cobb being a racist, Joe Dimaggio being a rotten SOB, Warren Moon arrested for DUI, etc.  and the list can go on for days and days..../

  21. Well, he got into the Hall before he murdered anyone, so that's why he was there.  But if he was found guilty, I think they should've kicked him out of the Hall.  The problem is that according to the American justice system, he's not guilty of anything, and really, to make any kind of grand move like that, we should try to abide by the legal system.  We all know he did the murders, but unfortunately due to technicalities he got off, and I think it would be wrong to kick him out of the Hall if he was found not guilty.

Its sad, but I think we should still abide by the law.

  22. nope.  He was one of the best running backs when he played, and maybe even in the top 15 of all time.  :)
