Question:

Does it sound chavvy or classy?

I'm trying to find a name that's classic and pretty but that hasn't been overdone (Isabella, Grace, Evie etc - all beautiful names). I already have an Isabella and hate that she shares it with several at her nursery.

Does anyone like Ferne? Does it sound a bit like someone who'd appear on 'jeremy kyle'?

ty in advance

  1. i like ferne, and i like how you're chosen to spell it. very pretty.

  2. Evie is not a name that is overdone.  It is actually pretty classy, at least I think so.  Maybe a longer, creative version of the name, Evelyn, Evie for short?  Adds elegance...

Ferne would probably be nicer as a middle name.  It isn't so bad, it is actually kind of cute.

    Good luck (:

  3. Ferne: in my opinion its a nice name but just 'nice'.

    Names you might like:

    Ava

    Kayla

    Madison

    Ella

    Gabriella (goes well with Isabella)

    Emily (may be too common)

Roxy (I think its cool _)

    Samantha

    Olivia

  4. Ferne rocks but its not classy or chavvy it reminds me of ferne cotton whom i love to bits she is like one of my idols :) so yes its cute

  5. not too keen on ferne, i cant really picture a small girl witht the name ferne. My partners daughter is evie, i do love that name. And Gracie too. Not chavvy, very very pretty!

I called my little girl Honey, and had mixed reactions from it. I love the name still!

My sister called her litle girl Lois... another great name.

  6. I know you said you prefer it without the a , but it doesn't look right. Fearne is still better I think.

    Oh, I liked Evie =[

    You could always try Gracie!!

Congrats, and I love Isabella its my sisters name.

    =] xo

  7. Ferne's a beautiful name. Very individual and classy.

  8. Ferne is cute and its not chavvy at all

when i think of ferne i think of ferne Cotton which is nice coz ferne cotten is great also Grace is cute or Gracie

  9. ferne is really nice. i wouldn't go with grace everyone seems to be going for that lately. i teach fern she is 18 - the only one out of 1200 pupils, she spells it fern.

try looking at this website if you want to pick something that isn't being overused

  10. Ferne sounds great! Not chavvy at all, really pretty.. I like the name Marissa aswell but not sure if it's overdone at the moment

  11. I don't think that Ferne is a chavvy name. However you will find that most names are often over used nowadays. I prefer less common names such as Serena and Evie.

  12. I like the name Ferne actually, don't think it sounds chavvy at all!

Is that a conscious decision to drop the 'a'? The common spelling is 'Fearne'...

    xx :)

  13. i like ophelia

  14. I like Grace, it's very elegant, not common or chavvy. I'm calling our little girl Samantha with the middle name of Catherine.

    Hope i've helped.

    Bets of luck

    x*x

  15. It sounds very pretty an not chavy at all

  16. Ferne is an okay name in my opnion but i wouldnt class it as a classy pretty name im sorry! if you like the pretty overdone names as you called them why not use one but adapt it, such as Eva and Gracie.  I find Ferne to be quite a masculine name xx

  17. Ferne is nice, not chavvy.

Catherine is nice, thats my name teehee

  18. Fern is a VERY American name, it's not chavvy OR classy at all to tell you the truth, it's just...cultural.  You'll find that you find a lot of Fern's in the South of the USA who are about 30/40.  It's fine, but not MY personal favorite, just 'cause I don't like names like "Fern" or "Heather".  I like flower names more, but Fern is TOTALLY acceptable.  And it's YOUR baby!!!  You're going to get all SORTS of opinions on here, but it's YOURS that matters overall.  Evie is nice.  What's wrong with you and your friend sharing names lol:)?

  19. Ferne is a lovely name, as is Grace, neither are chavvy.

  20. I don't think ferne is chavvy but i don't like it either. What about Freya.

  21. I think Ferne is quite pretty. My best friend just had a gorgeous little girl called Bethany, that's quite classy. Don't think either would be on Jeremy Kyle! I also love the name Ava.

  22. Cute for a baby, not for a lady

    Good Luck

  23. Instead of Ferne, how about Flora or Fawna

  24. Ferne is nice it makes me think of ferne britton and ferne cotton though lol, it's not chavvy at all and I don't think it's that common either.

I like Grace, Holly and Lacey but I can't choose which one of these for my little girl!!!!

  25. Honestly I have no idea what chavvy means?  What a strange word!

Not a big fan of Fern as a name - it reminds me of the character in Charlotte's Web.

I like the name Evie, what a bummer your friends already taken it!

  26. Ferne is nice and not chavvy at all. You may still find there are other children that share her name though - my name is Cassandra and I never thought I would find someone with the same name.  However, when I started secondary school there was another girl in my class with the same name! I couldn't believe it.

    Good luck choosing!

  27. I don't really like Ferne but i love the name Evie

  28. I don't like the name Ferne, mainly because I think it sounds chavvy (prob because I met a chav called Ferne), but also because I don't like names of trees or plants for people. It's just weird. I know someone who's full name is Lilly Daisy Oakley, like her whole name is a plant. I would hate to be able to say, yes, I'm named after a plant. Especially an ugly plant like Fern. Also I don't like Fearne Cotton so that might have something to do with it too.

  29. I think Ferne is a lovely name, i think it sounds pretty, and i don't think it sounds at all chavvy. but if your not compleatly happy with it why not try finding a different name. but if you are happy id stay stick with it

  30. Ferne is cute :)

Some others to possibly consider might include Eliza and Matilda (although they are possibly on the verge of common, more so than Ferne).  What about Mary??  I love the name Mary but I can't say it because I cannot pronounce my R's!!  If I could, I would definitely, DEFINITELY name my daughter Mary!  Probably my favorite name of all time :)

  31. I know how you feel with names, my daughter is nearly 3 weeks old and when we were deciding on names it was a nightmare! We eventually narrowed it down to Isabella and Ella, so we put Isabella on the birth certificate and just call her Ella, so in the future she can use either. When it came to middle names we also liked to - Autumn and Rose so we used both and came up with Isabella Autumn Rose.

I am not particularly keen on Ferne, but what about -

India, Lola, Jemma, Jasmine, Amy, Olivia, Sophie, Becca?
