    Yes both are what chemists call organic chemicals and both are what is called non polar chemicals. Polar chemicals behave in a similar way to water and tend to dissolve in it. Non polar chemicals are things like the chemicals that make up kerosene and oil and hexane is one of them, these chemicals have similar behaviour to each other and dissolve in each other. The only way to mix two liquids with a big difference in polarity is to use a chemical with one polar end and one non-polar end called a surfactant like soap or detergent.
