Would a yacht made out of Kevlar/Carbon Fibre deteriorate over time, say 25-30 years.?

  1. honestly carbon fiber is a very complex and strong material... doesn deteriorate early but if u lookin at 25-30 yrs... it will obviously hav sum wear n tear... kevlar n carbon fiber are 2 very strong and long lasting materials... dont thin kit shud cause u much problem... no worries!!!

  3. Anyone who has ever worked on a carbon fiber airplane knows the truth of this one, UV will eventually damage it, but one of the key issues is it gets hot! Carbon fiber is black, Unless your boat is in Alaska, you need a reflective coating. There are many coatings (basic boat white) that protect it.  In the automotive world, people paint it with epoxy paint and then clear coat it.

  4. Yes.  Carbon/kevlar is very UV sensitive, and loses bonding strength.  It must be coated with a UV protectant.
