Question:

Does kicking hard objects (e.g poles,Punching bags) have the same effect as kicking banana trees?

And if so, does it still have the same effect with punches, knees and elbow strikes?

  4. yes absolutely...they can all damage and break your legs with equal proficiency.

    young banana trees are a bit softer and "give" ...get yourself a heavy bag, or makiwara.

  5. My answer to this is that same one I give to people that ask if I can break a brick with my hand,  "Why would I want to?"

    Martial artists need to get it through their heads that it is where you strike that is more important. Get out of the mindset that being able to strike harder makes you better. Bottom line the winner of a fight may not be the one that can hit/kick the hardest, or take the most pain. The winner is the one that does the right thing, at the right time. Accuracy and timing are way more important than hitting hard.
