  1. As with traditional solid wood floors, laminate wood flooring is made to fit together with tongue and groove joints. Some prefinished strips and planks have slightly eased or beveled edges to make handling and installation easier.

  2. I disagree with the above answers. I have laminate now for 2 years. I have a doberman that stays in the house and my floors are not scratched. I did go to Lowe's and used a dime to see what would scratch and what would not.Hardwood scratched immediately.  Mine is made by Armstrong and has a 25 year warranty.

  3. Ive had Laminated floors before at my old house. They do scratch easily. You just have to be really careful. But it's worth it because they are a really beautiful flooring type. They last a long time, but in saying that they only last if you look after them. (eg. moving a sofa) Try and find a floor shiner for laminated floors. You can get really cheap ones right up to the highest brand.

    Hope I helped! :)

    (nice floors)

  4. If you're referring to mock-wood laminate, than yes most types do scratch easily. how long they last is directly related to how you care for them. good luck!

  5.   Yes it can scratch .. And you can replace boards and touch them up.. It is tougher than hardwood but not as tough as ceramic.. It will last as long as the quality of care you give it..It has it s up and down but price  reflects it.. There are better laminates than others so you ll have to shop and compare that..Even the cheapest of laminates will last a long time if you take simple precautions  GL
