One would hope so.

Or is it a reflexion of where the majority is at.

  1. No, it merely represents the amount of time a person spends in  a category, the view of the majority of other participants (truthful or not), or the juvenile activity of setting up multiple accounts and voting for yourself.

  2. I wouldl like to think so but in reality it is just the motivation of the individual and his ability to get best answers (if I understand the question correctly).  Go JELLO!!!!

  3. No and no. Leadership on the Y!A scoreboard is related to a number of factors, persistence, inventiveness, lack of competitors on his side of the argument with equal or near equal qualities, ability to rabble rouse, a stock of arguments to use in different permutations, the ability to bounce back when the going gets hard and resurrect arguments even if they have been effectively countered (there are always new people who are unaware of previous discussions), a sizable number of people of similar persuasion asking questions and giving best answer to arguments they agree with, a retentive mind for interesting links and snippets of information, a way with sarcasm etc etc

  4. In the case of Y!A global warming - neither.

It would be nice if the "Top Global Warming Answerer" reflected the scientific reality, because then we wouldn't have to worry about global warming or its potentially catastrophic consequences.

Unfortunately, in this case it merely represents the ability to cheat the system and the abnormally high level of denial in this particular Y!A category.  Fortunately, the majority of the human population does not share this denial.

  5. In this case, it represents a consensus...much like the IPCC.

  6. Sorry, no and no.  It is a reflection of how many accounts you can create and how busy you can get.

Environmentalists may exaggerate, emote, fawn, rationalize and justify with the best of them, but they have nothing on the opposition.

Think about it.  It's amateurs vs the professionals.

    edit:

I've been poking around and it appears there are accounts complete with fake biographies and long histories of fake q&a's.

Like I said, environmentalists may exaggerate to make a point, but the depth to which the opposition will sink is staggering.

We need to have a clear idea of what we are up against.

  7. God no! ... Well, not often.

It just means they answer the majority of questions ... i.e. they don't have a life.  The first answer gets the most votes and questions with the least number of answers give the highest probability of your answer being voted the best.

But then you already knew that, so why even ask?

  8. You must be talking about Al Gore. One would think he is telling the truth, but he is not a scientist, although he has a peace prize, and he is not an actor but has an EMMEY or ENEMY or EMME or e***a.
