Does leaving a TV on drain the light bulb in a projection TV, even though it's pitch black?

By pitch black, I mean it's not displaying a channel because the cable box is off, but the TV is left on.

  1. Yes it does drain the light bulb...it's on when the TV is on, and it's on when the picture is black...

    In fact it may HEAT up the optics and damage them when it's ALL BLACK...that's because none of the thermal energy can escape....


  2. I would assume so, as the its still producing an image, albeit only a completely pitch black one.
