  1. Go with what the Dr. above me said. Two thumbs up!

But that's a funny question! Haven't you ever had a small open wound on your fingers while squeezing a lime/lemon and having that sting your fingers like crazy? Acid + Eye ball = More painful eyeball

  2. Sure.  Yeah.  Of course it does.  I recommend squirting large doses of acidic lemon juice all over your eye ball.

  3. ok you may not believe this, but I have tried it and it works. Get a teabag and soak it in very warm water. remove and squeeze out excess water. lay the warm teabag over infected eye for as long as you can stand it. the longer the better. Keep the teabag warm. you should see a difference quite fast

  4. no it will sting the h**l out of your eyes though

  5. I would never put it in my eye to find out! The doctor has some ointment that will clear it right up

  6. Well, looks like I have to go into this again.

Run of the mill pink eye is a VIRAL infection.  Antibiotics will do absolutely nothing to treat it.  Pink eye will go away on it's own and will not go away faster with any amount of oral antibiotics, antibiotic drops or ointment.  It just takes time.

This is why people should NEVER see primary care docs or ERs for eye problems.  They'll dump antibiotics on everyone's eye, no matter what the actual problem is.

Find a local private practice optometrist who takes your medical insurance and get this stuff diagnosed and treated correctly.

  7. my grandfather used to do that to his eyes when they were infected.   It hurt like h**l.  I wouldnt do that now b/c there are medications like cipro and other antibiotics you can take and not suffer.  My grandfather was old school and did folk lore stuff.  But he did use lemon juice.

  8. Certainly not. Conjunctivitis is very contagious, and needs antibiotics

In my 80 years life, I've had Red-eye many many times.

Antibiotics certainly cured me, over and over, so ignore anything to the contrary .
