  1. They went stupid with asbestos in the early years. Yours will probably be asbestos. If it is painted don't worry. If you remove and cut and break it, it will be harmful to you.


  2. Given that there were over 3000 different products using asbestos it is possible, especially if it is a panel product. If it looks like yellow candy floss it is probably fibreglass, if it is loose cat litter it is probably perlite (mineral rock). Asbestos was better for fireproof situations although it was used extensively in pipelagging in commercial situations.
